Based on a program that welcomes over 40,000 children annually, this immersive activity blends cultural learning with the joy of creative expression, nurturing imagination and appreciation for Japanese craftsmanship.

The experience begins in a calm, dedicated space on the second floor of a traditional Kyoto townhouse. You’ll select from over 20 different fabric items—such as tablecloths, pouches, or eco bags—each suited for everyday use.

Using brushes and stencils, even young children can freely paint their designs, developing creativity and a sense of color through a playful, tactile process.

Midway through, you’ll tour the workshop downstairs, observing the tools, dye preparation, and craftspeople at work—an up-close look into the rarely seen backstage of traditional dyeing.

Your finished creation is ready to take home the same day, becoming a lasting reminder of your journey—both functional and full of personal meaning.
