The Valley of the Kings, the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the colossi of Memnon are all located on the West side of Luxor. The tour to those sites is quite an experience. The great Pharaohs of the Golden age (New Kingdom) gave up the pyramid cult and stopped building the pyramids, and chose the barren desert on the west bank in Luxor
