The afternoon in Calgary you will still be quoting next month.
You take codenames and land on a team name you will still be using years from now. Then the city turns into a case and you are away.
What actually happens over the next three hours is hard to summarise without ruining it, but the shape of it is this: a good long walk through Calgary, one genuinely clever moment that makes everyone go quiet, a hunch that turns out to be exactly right, and a photo nobody will ever be allowed to delete.
You will argue about directions. Someone will announce a theory with enormous confidence and be completely wrong. Someone else will spot the thing the rest of you walked past three times. The story keeps opening up just when you think you have it pinned, and the city keeps turning out to be more interesting than the version of it you thought you knew.
None of it requires experience. You turn up, you join in, and somewhere between the first clue and the last you start to feel like you have been doing this for years.
The quest ends. The group chat does not.
