Vasari Corridor and Uffizi Gallery: Skip the Line Ticket HO

Country: Italy

Description

After being renovated to meet current safety standards and improved lighting, it is now open to visitors in its original state: as a privileged link between the Grand Ducal Palace of Palazzo Pitti, located in the splendid Boboli Gardens, and the Uffizi Gallery, the Medici's seat of government.

The project by Giorgio Vasari, commissioned by Duke Cosimo I de' Medici, dates back to 1565 and was designed to create a sheltered walkway, 750 meters long, literally suspended over the Ponte Vecchio. The Prince's Way, as it is still called today, would have allowed the de' Medici family to travel safely from Oltrarno, where the family's private residence was located, to the seat of government at Palazzo Vecchio.

The famous architect completed the walkway in less than six months, illuminating it with a series of 73 windows through which modern visitors can enjoy a privileged and unforgettable view of the city of Florence. CC

The corridor is part of the tour of the Uffizi Gallery. Reservations required
