Luxor is often described as the world’s greatest open-air museum, but that comes nowhere near describing this extraordinary place. Visit the capital of the “New Kingdom Pharaohs” (1570–1090 BC), which has the largest wealth of ancient archeological sites in the Nile Valley. The most important sites are split between the East and West Banks of Luxor. On the East Bank, which is the City of the Living, we will visit the magnificent Temple of Karnak, and on the West Bank, where the City of the Dead is located, we will see the colossi of Memnon, the Valley of the Kings, and the breath-taking mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut.
