Welcome to the Rock, welcome to Iceland. We will be transfered from Keflavik international to Downtown Reykjavik for check-in at the hotel. Walking tour of Reykjavik harbor and downtown area. Dinner and then later free time.
Today we will go inland to the Golden Circle. We will visit the famous Gullfoss waterfall and also Geyser. We will then hit the ring road and begin our circle around Iceland. It will begin near the little village of Vik where we will see Reynisfjara beach. Possible Puffin sightings! We will have a picnic dinner meal in a cave, and staying in a very awesome location called Þakgil ( roof top canyon ). This is a beautiful place that most tourists can´t even dream up visiting. We will stay near the village of Vik.
Today is an adventure! We will begin going down the coast. Jökulsárlón is one of our highlights as is the black diamond beach. Amphibian boat tour into the calving glacial lagoon is included in this trip. Djupivogur region is our hotel area for the evening.
Today we will explore the wonders of the east. Including waterfalls, great nature, we will be staying in Seyðisfjörður. Seeing more waterfalls and natural things to do. Have a kayaking tour on the fjord and really see the beauty of this area from the water.
Some people like to use the term the middle of nowhere. When my good friend, Þórshöfn, visited for the first time, he called it the END of nowhere! Today we will experience really being one with nature! You are in one of the most remote and desolate places on the island, Langanes, but yet there is so much to see! We will spend the whole day out on the peninsula looking for puffins and other bird life. Picnic lunch out on the peninsula. We will learn a lot about how Icelanders used to live, how they used to fish and farm. Dinner will be back at Siggi and Hildurs on the farm.
We will pass by and stop at Ásbyrgi a very popular and famous place on Instagram! We head on through the Icelandic Desert with a stop at Dettifoss, Europes biggest waterfall by volume! Next we head to Mývatn Lake. It is here that we will swim in a geothermal pool and visit a volcano. There are many other things to do in this area too, including learn a little bit about how Iceland learned how to harness the power of geothermal energy after a volcanic eruption in 1984! We see one more waterfall Goðafoss on the way to Eyjafjord. Hjalteyri Hotel.
Eyjafjörður is well known for it´s whales. We will start the day with a whale watching tour, either private tour, or join a larger group in Árskogssandur. We will also visit Laufás a very well preserved traditional Icelandic turf house. We will visit and spend some time in the heart of Akureyri, the capital of the north. After some well time spent around Akureyri we will head back for dinner and the hotel in the village. Hjalteyri Hotel
Today will be going around Troll peninsula. We will visit one great museum and see great beauty on one of the prettiest drives along the Arctic Coast Way. Walking and Beer tour in Siglufjörður. Swim in Grettislaug or Hofsós and continue South toward Stykkisholmur.
We have the day to observe beautiful Stykkisholmur and drive through the Lava Fields on the Peninsula. Shark Museum. Stop in a seal viewing area, and get to Reykjavik for our last night. Perlan Museum and Harpa are on the agenda before our last farewell dinner in Reykjavik.
For those not going on with us to the Faroe Islands, you will be going home. For those continuing on the tour, you will arrive in the Faroe Islands in the evening. Transfer to your hotel and meet with the group. The Airport is on the Island of Vagar. We will have dinner at Fiskstykkið restaurant in the village of Sandavagar, near the airport. After dinner we have time to go to the beautiful waterfall called Mulafoss.
Morning spent with a walking tour around Tórshavn. We will begin with the historic Tinganes district, visit the charming old town and walk around the harbor and the iconic Skansin fortress. Tórshavn is a compact and pictureque city easily discoverable on foot. We will end the walking tour with some free time and time for lunch. Visit to the National Farose Museum and then return to the city center for free time. Dinner at one of Faroe Islands finest restaurants with Faroese Cuisine, Tarv.
Today we will depart to Gamlarætt and visit Sandoy Island. We will begin with the charming village of Skopun. Sandoy is known for its great agricultural land and amazing cliffs abundant with bird life. We will have the time to have a slow paced day and visit the little villages of Sandur, Dalur, and Húsavík. This day will be spent with a bit of walking, small hikes, bird watching, and exploring local culture. Dinner tonight is the main event. We will be experiencing dinner with Locals in Skopun. Try traditional Faroese food at the home of Hansa and Samuel Peter. Talk with the hosts about the Faroe Islands and culture.
Today you will discover Klaksvík, the second-largest town in the Faroe Islands. Klaksvík is located on the island of Borðoy and it is known for it´s picturesque surroundings and fishing industry. After a walk around town, we will visit Föroya Bjór brewery which brews some of the best beer in the world. They also make excellent gin and whiskey. After the tour we will head to a special Island by ferry from Klakksvik. We will visit the beautiful island of Kalsoy, where all the small villages are connected by tunnel. We will have dinner in Mikladalur before heading back to Tórshavn.
Today we will visit Nolsoy, Mykines, or Vestmanna, depending on the weather. All locations will be reached by boat, and will provide experiences with bird watching, especially puffins. Which location we go to depends on the weather. Depending on what time we return to Tórshavn, you will have free time and then our last departure dinner together at one of Tórshavn’s historic restaurants.
Departure day- you will head home.
