Meet your tour guide to explore Lithuania's capital, Vilnius, famous for its 1,200 medieval buildings and 48 churches. Your morning tour covers a panoramic view of the city, a walking tour in the Old Town, including Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, Peter and Paul Church, St. Anne’s Church, Old University, and the Gates of Dawn. In the afternoon, you can opt for a visit to Trakai (with extra charge), the medieval capital of Lithuania, with the well-preserved Trakai Castle on Lake Galve's island. After breakfast, we embark on our journey to Riga, the capital of Latvia. Our first stop takes us to the Hill of Crosses, a profoundly sacred place in Catholic Lithuania. Upon crossing into Latvia, we'll reach the splendid Rundale Palace, the former summer residence of the Duke of Courland. Following a guided palace tour, we'll journey through the picturesque rolling hills of Southern Latvia, arriving in Riga in the late afternoon for hotel check-in. Our day begins with a visit to the historical sites of Riga, the capital city. Founded in 1201 by the German bishop Albert, Riga is the largest of the three Baltic capitals, showcasing a diverse range of architectural styles. Our walking tour of the Old Town will include Riga Castle, the Dome Cathedral, St. Peter's Church, the Swedish Gate, the Three Brothers, the Large and Small Guilds, and the Freedom Monument. In the afternoon, there's an optional visit to Jurmala, the vibrant Latvian seaside resort renowned for its wooden architecture and sandy beaches. Now that we've familiarized ourselves with Riga, an opportunity arises to delve into medieval Latvia. This morning, consider joining an optional tour to the Gauja National Park and the town of Sigulda. Here, we'll immerse ourselves in the medieval Latvian legend of the Rose of Turaida, and explore the ruins of the Episcopal Castle and the Castle of the Knights of the Sword before returning to Riga. In the afternoon, you can opt (with extra charge) for a visit to the Ethnographical Open Air Museum, an extensive showcase of 18th-century rural life. To cap off the day, savor an optional (with extra charge) Latvian dinner at the stylish Restaurant Kalku Varti.
Following breakfast, our journey continues along the coastal highway to the Estonian summer haven of Parnu. We'll take a brief tour of the resort before proceeding through the forested landscapes of North Estonia, reaching Tallinn in the early afternoon for check-in at the Hotel. Saturday in Tallinn offers a unique blend of medieval charm and modern vitality. The Old Town, bustling with shops, galleries, and outdoor cafes, is a medieval gem. We'll tour the city, taking in Toompea Castle, Dome Church, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Old Town Hall, and the Great Guild Hall, all within the medieval city walls. In the afternoon, you can choose an optional tour to Kadriorg Park, where you can visit KUMU, Estonia's award-winning Art museum, showcasing classic and contemporary fine art.
